award winner : great to hear that matt wood : architect has been awarded the West Lancashire Design Award 2019, for our work on the former water tower in Ormskirk : our work, in collaboration with CJ Developments, to convert this wonderful historical structure was awarded the winner of the ‘conversion and re-use of an existing building’ category : two other projects, marlewood + the croft extension, have each been awarded a commendation by the judging panel, in the ‘small residential category’ : congratulations to all our clients for their enthusiasm and commitment in realising these projects.

design + planning : our design proposals for a contemporary dwelling in rufford have been submitted to the local authority : the carefully considered designs are context driven, inspired by the rural landscape and agricultural buildings of the local countryside setting - a contemporary interpretation of local farm buildings : four single-storey buildings provide forms that are recognisable to a rural setting, and are clustered together as in a farmyard setting. Separate defined volumes, varying in scale + form + materials, evoke a collection of farm buildings that has evolved over time.

winner : matt wood : architect has recently been awarded the residential category winner in the West Lancashire Design Awards, for our project at needless inn barns : the award was collected at a presentation evening, with the judges noting that they appreciated "the simplicity and sensitivity of the design and high quality of the finished work" of our extension to a grade II listed building.
completion : We have recently completed an extension project and internal refurbishment of a bungalow dwelling, breathing new life into this dated property. Our clients will now enjoy better views and interaction with their wonderful garden, improving the connection between the inside and outside areas of their home.
